Desperately seeking Van

Hi to you all,
First time poster...Long time reader!
May I start by saying that everyone here seems to be really kind and helpful. I have read a few posts and am amazed at how friendly you all are...its a rare thing these days.

I'm on the hunt for a Commer camper van (as I'm sure we all are, eh) and am beginning to realise that its not as easy as you think. I've always loved Commer vans, spending many a happy camping holiday in my grandad's van back in the late 70's early 80's.

So if anyone comes across a nice decent van for sale for a few grand, please be kind enough to post a link here.

Kind regards

J

Hi J welcome to the forum, hope you find a van soon - sounds like it'll find a good home:)

Do you have any holiday snaps tucked away of Grandads' van? always lovely to see campers in their natural habitat[^]

Helooo there,

I bought an absolute beauty - 1971 Commer Highwayman conversion a few months ago, really unusual, sleeps 7! Loads of space and looks great! Since then I've had tons of work done on it as its been off the road for 4 years - it now has an MOT, tax exemption disc and is good to go...here comes the sad bit...my plans hve completely changed and I'm now moving to Berlin in the near future!! The van can't come with me and soooo, I'm thinking about selling it!!!!!! I'm so gutted, Ive always wanted one, but I think that I was perhaps a little over ambitious and short of money as all the cash I've invested in the van I now need for a course in Berlin!! There are still a couple of tweeks which need ironing out, but if you're intersted then give me a call 07834163818 (names Tara) I can get some pictures up ASAP and give more details of work done etc but thought I'd give you a heads up!!

Cheers

Tara :)

That's a shame, I remember your van looks a rare conversion and I like it a lot. Yes please post some pics to whet our appetites :p

tell me about it...I'm so gutted, I would keep it until my return to the British Isles but living in London doesn't give much scope for that, and being a poor 23 year old with HUGE student debts doesn't give much scope for that either! I'd love to see Colnel Mustard aka. the Colnel (my beloved van's name) go to a good home!!

I'm wavering...but very irrationally!!

Listen to the voice...'keep the Colnel...keep the Colnel...keep the Colnel' Alternatively you could give it to me and I'll 'mind' it till you get back :D

I can tell you it was a lovely yellow colour and remember spending many a happy night sleeping up in the hammocks (it had a pop up roof)

Ah, its that Commer Dandy again built by Dandy Caravans, been on here before I believe? Very rare indeed, and certainly not a Highwayman!;)

Tara the van looks great, loads better than the ebay pic's [^]I am sorely tempted but would have to sell my sybhil [V]
Where abouts can the van be viewed & what sort of money are you after?

"SYBHIL" & N0.1

Hi Tara, sorry to hear you have to part with Col. Mustard - is a very rare and magnificent beast - ooooh such temptation:p:p:p especially with the kingpins done - have heard changing them is not a pleasant way to spend your time.

All the very best in Berlin - am sure Panky won't charge much for storage (although it might involve a couple of bottles of nice beer to get it back again;))

Good luck with the hunting Jamie - hope you get to relive some of those happy memories soon:)
