Dead Dremel

This is the second Dremel I've had that just died It's not that old, had an easy life but out of warranty - so I decided to have it to bits. On first inspection everything looked fine, clean inside with no obvious signs od fault or damage. I then decide to get technical and get the multi-meter out I measure the resistance across the windings , one was about 25 ohms the other was open circuit - bugger. So I did a bit of tugging and prodding at the connections and this happened



you can just see the hair like wire dangling there, it should be attached to the terminal at the top, you can see the scorch mark on the insulation where it was.
So out with the soldering iron to attach an extra piece of wire.



Looped it back round, laid it across the groove in the plastic connector housing and pushed the terminal back in. It grips the wire as you push it in - a bit like a phone wire terminal. Re-checked the readings and 25 ish ohms across both windings so built it back up, plugged it in and it works
