Hello... its been a while... But tramper van is still on the road, not that I go very far in it... I've done about 200miles a year for the last few years..! Therefore I am very happy with the new exemption laws as the tax works out at about a £1 a mile..!!! Problem is Tramper was registered in April 1978 so although that means it is now MOT exempt, its not tax exempt until next year... Unless, I can get proof on headed paper from the manufacturer that it was built prior to Dec 1977... This is highly likely being registered in April 1978 - but with so many changes to the ownership of Commer - Dodge - Chrysler.... Does anyone know whether its possible to get this proof and how to go about it..???

Get in touch with Bob Allen at the Rootes Archive Trust and he should be able to supply you with a Heritage certificate. It costs £30 but a nice thing to have and it will give you the proof you need.

Just ou of interest would the vin number etc give the needed info? Would probably have to take it to one of those inspection centres. Remember I helped my neighbour take his moggy to one as log book didn’t match factory built, convertable.

Thanks Panky. I will contact the Rootes Archive Trust. Although as Its only 6 months till the end of tax for Tramper - its barely worth following up..!
