Daisy Goes to Goodwood

Most of you will remember Daisy, my Commer Clearway, that I sold to Martin Harvey, last year. Well, she has been to chosen to appear at Goodwood Festival of Speed, GRRC display next month.

"The GRRC display is an invitation only event, whereby Lord March and his team pick around 30 cars that tickle his fancy to park on the carriage circle in front of Goodwood House. Owners and guests then dine with Lord March in the Ballroom. Daisy has beaten off the likes of Ferrari 250 GTOs, D type Jags etc and been invited to attend on Sunday 12th August. To my knowledge she is the first camper to be invited and this is a serious honour for Commer kind".

Martin has a slight problem, in the front bumper is not quite perfect and needs to find one urgently for this event. If anyone has a perfect one, they could lend him for the event, he would be most grateful. He is based on the south coast, at Feltham.

What!!!!! he's given up the chance of being at your meet just to go to Goodwood, shame on him.

Talking of Goodwood, I was at the revival last year and in the pre 73 car park saw this little beauty. Not one Commer inside the show tho :-(. About time we got one inside the gates of Goodwood!

everything has stopped, I had a bit of an accident after pushing a triumph 2000, I broke both my wrists :-/ only today after 6 weeks my cast came off. Within this 6 weeks all my cars needed MOTing so I have been doing what I can but progress has been slow. (or tho I did break a personal best and took an engine out my herald in 70 minutes) :) don't think dr would approve. So im a bit behind with everything now :-(. On the plus side I have 6 weeks off (God bless the summer holidays) So I can crack on and make some good progress.

No that would be much cooler, in fact I over did it a bit pushing this 2000 up this hill. When I turned and ran back to my car my legs didnt really work, went like jelly and I decked it. Still got back in my car went work, stayed at work till my lunch and though I best go get checked out as my watch was getting rather tight. Hospital told me I had 2 broken wrists lol

Yes, that's Daisy. I restored it about 3 years ago and used it in the hire fleet for a year.
Baz, I spelt it wrong, should be Felpham, next to Bognor Regis, on the South coast ;)

Thanks for posting my request Martin. I've been meaning to 'come out' re Daisy for some time but don't get to spend anywhere near as much time on the forum as I'd like. Certainly not for the last couple of months anyway, what with organising a charity bath tub race n'all (will start another thread to explain that one!)

I would like to add the word 'hire' to the word 'lend', as suggesting someone remove a perfect bumper from their pride and joy for nothing (for someone the don't know) is a pretty big ask. Obviously I would pay carriage costs both ways.

Looking into re-chroming, I'm being quoted lead times of 6 weeks, or to do it in the time available £500-£600!

This is all part of my masterplan as Dan suggests, to get Daisy into the Revival. Having now got a Commer on their radar I have a plan up my sleeve. (Hopefully to be revealed soon).

Whilst there hasn't yet been a Commer inside Goodwood, last year I did manage to get a bit of Goodwood inside a Commer. I spotted 4 of the 'grid girls' wearing suitable colouring, and with a bit of opportunist charm ;). . . .

Don't s'pose I'll ever get that lucky in Daisy again!

Daisy's front bumper has suffered quite a bit of flaking since then and the rest of her is so beautiful I don't want to let her down at such an important event. Would really appreciate it if you can help! Please email [email protected] if you can.

I want to go wherever these pictures where taken. I have never seen a commer as beautiful as this before. The sleek lines, the perfect shape, absolutely wonderful.
 
Sorry but I just had to come back here to have another look at Daisy's front bumper and to see if her skirts had been lowered.
 
Martin, when my van is on the road, one thing I will be doing is taking it to the revival, "its an amazing event". This isn't going to happen this year, but certainly next. I will not be camping in the Goodwood campsite as it is SO expensive. So anyway maybe once you have your foot in the door we could invade them with vans :D
