It's been a while since I have been on here! After my back operation and then becoming a Design Technology teacher+ living 3 hrs away from my workshop, I have not had a chance to touch my Commer
Hopefully things will change in the near future though
After the clutch went on my 9-3 (which I still need to sell...) and then finding out I got a first for my degree, I decided I would treat myself to a 'poor mans' Porsche as I fancied a daily classic and have always liked the shape of them. It has consumed pretty much all my free time since buying it in the summer
£660 later I ended up with this rather untidy example that had great service history but had been unloved for a few years.
A damned good cutting revealed a few patches of good paint in places
But no amount of cleaning would hide the heavily dented valance and other broken bits. Out came the hammer to straighten the valance out
A crusty back end had to be sorted out
That's better! Black bump strips gone too
Unfortunately the crusty front panel was letting the car down now
Better
Interior is pretty shot so I have been slowly replacing parts
Used and abused as a daily
I've also been doing a million jobs rebuilding the mechanical, electrical, suspension and fuel end of things. It's got a heap of new parts to go on over Christmas (Dansk exhaust, turbo rear valance, sneaky bit of lowering, and some other bits), should look far tidier after that! It has cost more to repair than I paid for it but these cars have appreciated in value recently so I doubt I would lose out if i sold it [8D]
