D-type overdrive

freshpaint008.jpg

most of you know through my Tigger thread that this isn't working properly...the overdrive engages perfectly but struggles to dis-engage...I have asked advice on here and I have also asked on other forums for different cars that use the same overdrive and the general opinion seems to be that it probably needs a new cone clutch or cone clutch thrust bearing. All parts are available from http://www.overdrive-repairs.co.uk/buy_spares.php?cat=D Type Spare Parts List

It has a brand new solonoid fitted which was £40
A reconditioned overdrive would cost in the region of between £350 to £400

If anyone is intersted PM me...I am looking for £100 for it

Nice guess Panky (I can see your logic) but alas, no they have gone much further afield:)

I think the gearbox is going a lot further afield, to the alps, I think!

No brainier really, put my d type on the box. Saves me time rebuilding the box and I don't have to fabricate a crossmember..... Or buy new parts from Speedies, or put the box back together and find it doesn't work. As time is running out to get jog ready, I reckon I have saved myself a couple of days toil doing this,
