Hello all
Following a chat with fellow van owner and imp fan Mike at the recent Imp national, I decided to investigate the reason that the Overdrive unit that I bought of Colin of Enigma fame (he must be on holiday as he hasn't been seen for a few days) along with a gearbox.
He had found that the overdrive engaged perfectly well, and then wouldn't disengage. He thought that it was something to do with the clutch cones. Well - he was right.
After practicing dismantling my spare triumph sourced overdrive, I found the overdrive soon comes apart. So, tonight I pulled the unit off the gearbox, and dismantled it. As you can see from the photos, the clutch cone and brake ring show signs of having been more than a little stuck together.

And this is a photo of the replacement clutch unit. As can be seen, the friction material is in much better condition than the item removed.
So, got to clean the brake ring in the blast cabinet to get it really clean, and then reassemble. It shouldn't be too difficult, only fitting the planet gears in place withing the clutch can take a bit of patience. Hopefully this will be fitted into Jog for the weekend after next.
Cheers
