Condensation strangeness

Hi all

Kind of technical question..
I checked our commer bus (no poptop) yesterday after leaving him for 2 weeks in storage outside. No cover. We've had cold foggy weather the last few weeks so lots of opportunity for condensation inside. Heres what i found:
1. Engine bay very damp - pljg leads covered in dew. WD40 sorted this. Is this normal?

2. The roof: this was my main concern. It'sa metal roof with one air vent in the middle. It's all bare metal (painted) - no roof lining.
what i found was the whole rear cabin roof was lightly covered in water, just a surface moistness. But in the driving cab, ahead of the contoured ridge just behind the join in the roof, the condensation was literally dripping off. When i got in and the van moved a bit, it fell onnmy head like rain, ruining my carefully crafted hairdo.

Question: why would the whple rear be relatively clear but the front be so wet? Anyone else have this?
We'll be adding a headlining at some point, maybe woodennlining. Would the condensation form undr that? Bit of a worry!

It will also depend on which way the van is pointing, the coldest area will get the most condensation so if the front is pointing away from the sun, or in shadow, then that end will be the coldest. I have the same problem in Ted the Traveller, on a very cold day all the interior metalwork is covered in ice which soon turns to water when it warms up:( I've put an open ice cream tub of cat litter on the back seat which seems to have helped a bit.
 
I hadnt thought of the sun direction. Good point.
i was planning to use the crystals at some pojnt but as it stands the amount of water that collected would fill them up too quickly i think.
wet carpet is a good point too,itciuld still be damp from leaking door seal (now fixed)
