Commervanfan Community: IRC?

Just a thought...

Does anyone on here use IRC [?]

If not, would Commervanfan as a community be interested in using it?

I use IRC all the time with my other hobbies/interests and it's a really useful way of discussing stuff, accessing instant info from other enthusiasts, etc...it works well alongside the mailing lists/forums we also use ;)

If anyone is interested, download a copy of Mirc IRC client from www.mirc.com, once it's installed and ready to go, select "EntertheGame: Random server" as your server, click on Favourites and then "Add", enter "#commervanfan" as your Channel and tick "Join on connect", then "OK".

Voila...less intrusive than Micro$oft products too! :p

Sorry over my head :I(complete technophobe), what is the difference to what we already do - chat [?].

hey panky get with it man dont you even know what that is about, (come to think of it what is it all about). how you doing old fella anyway, are you going to the meet up at marts, also when you gonna get this van out and start on it.:D:p

Negotiating with the wife on 'The Gathering' I forgot it's our anniversary week end and she doesn't do camping or Commers. Old Harvey will be sorted after the Mini but it will take a little time, you can't rush an old dog like me (or Harvey);)

i haven't studied how to post pic's yet this is way over my head :I woolfy stop hi-jacking other peoples post [}:)] how are you? panky what about a local hotel for your anniversary [:0]

Hehehe, the difference between Forums and IRC is that IRC is "live" (real time, like a typed phone call, ie. Messenger)...rather than post-based (Forums). :)

It's not to everyone's taste, but it can be really useful.

I just thought I'd suggest it because it's been such a key part of other forums I'm a member of...there's a good description of how it works for one collector-based forum on the "About" page at http://www.jammaplus.co.uk/ (another of my hobbies, much to the annoyance of my partner :D )

Anyway, I'll shut up about it now! [8)]

I was trying to sort this out on Trillian (that I use for ALL of my MSN/AIM/YIM/ICQ/Gtalk etc etc but may need to read up to get it working!

Aha! Multiprotocol! :D

Not used Trillian myself though I am aware of it. Not really needed a multi front end...don't use anything but mIRC these days TBH: as a client, it's widely used by the VAC community which suits me fine.

I'd be interested to see how it goes...keep me posted! :)
