Commers on TV

I'll let you know about the 1st company, when it comes back this week. I will be going with it to 'The Royal', so should be OK.

If it is still the same crowd as Heartbeat, have heard some lovely things about them being a good bunch of people:)

I think their attempts at making it look old again worked :I Good job that's how they want it Tues, for 'The Royal'.

Milkandtwo would be loving it the way it is at the moment - very realistic. Looks like the special effects dept have done a good job, what will it take to get it back to white again.

my mate had his van (vw) on the screen, the production company painted it in emulsion with washing up liquid in it. Once they were finished, they just washed the paint off!

don't know if anyone remembers the above ad a few years back about the advantages of taking the train - it contains a loco painted up as a police car. A mistake was made with the choice of paint which was only discovered when they tried to wash it off to find it wasn't emulsion:I. The loco had to go back into service for a while resplendent in its new jam jar livery:D

Fascinating seeing the minibus painted up Martin, what did you think of the cream colour scheme?

is nice to hear the Royal are going for some authentic detail and daring to show some rust - it bugs me sometimes on these period things that everything is gleaming and freshly polished, there should be some good honest working vehicles dotted about with some mud & rust (maybe not quite as muddy as Ran got for Mcfly:D)

Can't wait to see them, they have potential - gonna be stars one day[8D]

Life as a film star is not all it's cracked up to be [V] Got up at 4am, on site for 6am [|)] Horrible wet day, with a skwall blowing in off the North Sea [xx(]
Note the addition of the minibus top, last minute request from the Director.
Started dressing the minibus at 7am.

After a few takes and drives round the block, finished by 10.30. Prunella Scales was the Guide Leader, supposed to be driving the bus but really had a stand in ;)

Oh, met up with our 'Commerade' (Grizz5714), he has been the Ambulance driver since it started, 7 years ago :)

I'm impressed !

You're doing a sterling job in promoting "the Commer brand", Martin, in most ways thinkable. [^] A proper ambassador !

I'm curious to know what these post bus tops are.

As they're not full width I guess they're not high tops so seems they must be a styling addition / roof rack thingy.

Hi Paul,i wish i had one for my bus.
I have a Chrysler Dodge style minibus still a PB, but with one of those roofs i could walk from the back to front without banging my head.
I believe that is what they are for, to give more headroom. No doubt someone will put me right if thats wrong.
I believe mine may have been a crew bus with side fitting, wooden slat, bench type seating in the back, with side and rear access for the workers. However some point during its life seats have been removed.
I have a set of forward facing minibus seats to fit,but time and money have put a stop to my project at the moment. Here`s a pic of my bus from 2003.

The roof came from the same bus your seats did, Gary. Just gives a bit more room in the middle. It was a standard Dormobile minibus conversion. :)
