Barb found this whilst browsing. My Dad spent all his working life at Tates as a driver based at the Love Lane depot. He retired in 1979 but if he was still around today I'm sure he would recognise a few faces in these old cine clips Some nice old vehicles in the background
Was looking through my Dads old tool bag the other day and found an old tube of 'Tank seal' ....he bought this in Mevagissy in Cornwall way back in the summer of 1974.....it didn't work!!!! He had the tank drained and a patch welded in...The tank was 13 years old so I spose it had lasted quite well
Also found a car park ticket for late August 74 'Swanage council' so I guess that must of been the same trip en-route for home......
I was 10 years old and Cazz was not even a month old[:0]
I am hauling my dads tool kit with me on this trip. Actually They are my only tools i have and i have had them for years now. Many of them were my Grandads, they were both engineers in the RN and i now have inherited them .
The tools are well used and great quality and i am still amused by some of the brand names.
The wrenches are "King Dick" brand which always gets a laugh and are almost indestructible.
Many of them have stories to tell also, and its great to have them.
