A pint of the usuall please Land Lord,

Thanks I need this:)

They have been loads of arguments at ours this weekend :(

I decided I would sort things out for the upcoming winter months so I put Neil in the garage and moved Belinda to the other side of the garage,
And put Frank in the mansion with Gladys. Now Belinda is complaining that she as to sleep on the wrong side of her bed, Neil says she is just a trouble maker and has an oily smell.
Gladys is not happy claiming Frank snores to loud and is invading her space,
Poor Neil and Frank getting picked on by the females, Just like true life [:0]

I WANT CAKE

I need a couple tonight.

My proper van, my LDV Maxus needs a new engine. Started out with a turbo problem sucking oil out of the sump and creating clouds of smoke when being driven. Managed to get a decent 2nd hand turbo for £130, and then spent 2 days removing the old turbo - of course dealing with well corroded nuts and studs, two broken studs, figuring out how to take the turbo out when there is limited access to the nuts that hold it onto the exhaust manifold etc. Ended up taking the manifold off. Unable to to remove the exhaust as the studs were all completely corroded etc.

Anyway, took the sump off this morning as the it has been used at some point to support the engine, probably to change the timing belt as it involves removing one of the engine mounts to do it, and the sump is very deformed with the drain plug being above the rest of the sump and therefore probably leaving a litre of oil in it when draining. Taken off to be treated to some hammering to get it back into approximately the right shape. Also, for some reason, also the oil only dribbles out of the sump......

Anyway, turns out that the sump nut had been pushed up into the oil feed pick up pipe for the oil pump and dented it severely, reducing it's diameter by more than half, which probably explains the reason the turbo has gone bang due to oil starvation.....

however, worst of all was finding bits of a broken oil scraper piston ring at the bottom of the sump.....

New engine time!!!!

Bum

Large one please!

I have to say, taking an engine out of a modern van is a lot easier that a Commer. I managed to acquire a good second hand engine, if you can ever call an engine that has come out of a post office vehicle as being good - but it's done less than 50k and looks in really good condition, has a good turbo with no play in it and is exceptionally clean - and best of all I have a full service print out of it. However, it set me back a grand. Should have the van back on the road on Tuesday, unless it turns out that it has coded injectors and sensors on it, which I have a feeling it does. Why do manufacturers insist on coding sensors???

Coded injectors.....

Apparently, it is common during manufacturer for an injector to be tested and it's output measured and calibrated and for this to be coded into it so that the ECU knows exactly how much fuel it is puttiing into the cylinder. So, when changing injectors on certain cars, it is necessary to know this and programme the ECU so that the fuel input is exactly correct so that the emission are much cleaner.

I don't think the Perkins needs programming....
