Thats really funny. I've printed it out for the cab[)]

One mod that I also did while I was at it, which is a little less superfluous is to put the washers on the same switch as the wipers. Its annoying to have to fiddle with 2 switches, as you never want the washers without the wipers. Its that little stainless press button on the wiper switch . I thought that turned out quite neatish.
While I was at it I upgraded the wipers to 3 speed and will change the jets to quads when I've finished painting the van.

Like everyone I love the style of classic vehicles, but not always there slowness (i've fixed that) and inconvenience and lack of mod cons (I'm working on that :))

why not? you're the one that gets to drive & enjoy it, and you're only fitting what any sensible designer would have fitted at the time if it was available/thought of/affordable.

Well done on the wipers - must confess I didn't get mine exactly right when I fitted a more original switch to the mad wiring that was there:I It's o.k. though - with un-modded engine I'm rarely going fast enough to need 2 speed wipers:I:D

All looking great so far - good luck with further developments

I got myself a rapier 2 speed wiperswitch which looks the same as hte original but is er... different... not fitted it yet though! (needs and electric pump)

I considered 2 speed wipers on the minor, but as the engine got better, she went faster and the wipers just lifted off the screen! They ended up just flapping about completly uselessly

Good mods there Jules, something to aim for! I'm quite keen on the overdrive switch where was it from again?

Out of curiosity don't you need the two speed motor to go with the two speed switch :I

Nothing wrong with a bit of sensible modification, we were doing it to our Commer when it was nearly new in the late 60s. I remember my Dad fitting windscreen washers from a Ford Anglia and my mum made new door cards in black vinyl.

Another not so sensible mod in the winter (as we lived at the top of a steep hill) was for three of us to stand on the rear step with the back doors open to get some traction to the rear wheels. [:0]

I think the modifications you have carried out so far look just right and as they say: If it looks right, it is right! [^]

'It's not a proper slider'

Can anyone design a device to lift the wipers off the windscreen on their final upstroke before they park so that the last sweep of water doesn't spend the next 5 minutes making its way back down the windscreen?

Yes. in fact I fitted a 3 speed motor. But I'm sure 2 speed will do. The rapier motor is similar but not identical.

Finally got the MOT pass
Back on the road after 18 years :D

But its never all good news is it. Snapped the clutch plate :( doing some power runs & tuning on my local 1/4 mile strip (the local camera-free A road - theres a lamp post in exactly the right place for timing). Want to get things approx correct before I rolling road it.
Have found it difficult to get an original (not a recon) clutch, never mind a sintered version.

Out with the box again, and the annoying linkage. [:(!]

well done jules [^] excellent news [8D]
shame about the clutch plate [xx(] i guess thats what happens when you try for sub 9 sec runs :D or could it be all the extra weight of those gauges :D
