Commerjules

Been fiddling with the dash today.

It turns out quite easy to modify.
An now wondering whether to keep it black or paint it body colour.

Cheers

Do you know a stockist of km/h Smiths speedo faces too?
Would probably be the cheapest "go faster" modification around :D

(Until you're overtaken by an 8-year old on a pushbike, of course..) [:(!]

The speedo is actually MPH / KPH
I am hoping..... the van will pull about 95 - 100 MPH

It was quite easy modifying the dash. But its going to be a little harder mating this speedo head to the Rapier gearbox.

I was tempted to use some of these new digital gauges I have had floating around for a while. But then I remembered I am trying to keep the mods period to the 70s. Like what Commer would have done if they spent a little more money on the van.

Can you imagine Rootes trying to adapt this kind of display for a speedo in 1972 - nice thought [8D]

I wasn't 100% happy with the dash.
There just wernt enough gauges, Ive a bit of a gauge fetish:I

Some are quite useful additions, like twin voltmetres for the twin batteries (I fitted double leisure batteries as well as the standard one for the camping side of things as I plan to run a few power hungary mod cons). Some a bit tenuous like oil temperature.
I realised when I was finished that I don't think I've left room for a water tank lever gauge. But that would probably be better on a separate panel inside somewhere anyway

sorry Jules - you haven't got one showing Geneva time or the Dow Jones index, but everything else certainly seems to be covered;)
