Commer vs Tractor

The campsite owners were great!!, after fixing the car owners bumper and paying cash for a new headlamp, and realising the tractor was not in anyway damaged and then bending wire fence back, they said that we had caused enough trouble and the £22 paid for the camping would cover the fence damage? none.. and could we please leave as we had caused enough trouble? I was flabbergasted and a bit shocked, thanks for nothing.
Luckily she still drives fine and got me home safe.
Anyway help needed please, I am after an offside wing mirror, offside side light lens, offside door skin, or door, and I need to find a good bodyshop to repair the damage, have taken it to two good ones locally in Brighton, but they didnt seem to keen on doing the work it seems to be all bolt off bolt on and spray nowadays, I need to find a skilled person, is there anyone out there? can anyone help?

Look forward to your replies

Oh no [:0] that is terrible, thank god no one was hurt. I really do hope you get it sorted out soon, sorry I can't be of any more help. That is really tough [V]

oh no, heartbreaking - really glad everyone o.k.

I'll have a rummage in the shed as may have spare sidelight lens for you - best of luck with the bodywork sourcing, proper metal bending more of a dying art now - hope you find someone in your area soon.

Perhaps campsite worth a mention under the 'recommended campsites' thread - perhaps with emphasis on which one to avoid in Dorset, it doesn't sound very commer friendly[:(!]

What a tale! I am afraid that I have none of the required parts either.

It seems so funny that after being so good about it and not being annoyed that they would ask you to leave!!

oh no [:0] what a disaster :( try woolfy for a doorskin. a good panel beater should be able to sort it.

Gutted for you [:0]
What horrible campsite people [:(!]
I arrived too late to get in one once with an elderly disabled person,we had missed the turning ended up stuck on a cliff, lost for an hour had to stay in a carpark,we left just after 7 in the morning, got to the next campsite put the radio on & heard the last campsite got flooded the reservoir burst, what goes around comes around :)
The moral of the story is make sure you leave it in gear ;)

how lucky was missing that turning[:0][?]

won't get a chance for shed rummage 'til tomorrow so will keep you posted on what I find in there

Thanks everyone for their kind words, and thank you Studiocommer that would be great if you have time to rummage, did I notice that you were based near Cardigan? I spent my teens in LLandysul and went to school in Newcastle Emlyn and Camarthen so know the area faily well, lots of Happy days spent fishing on the Teifi and at New Quay, bet its a little busier now 25yrs on.

If you're ever passing the old stomping ground - you're always welcome to pop in, we are just south of Cardigan and am sure that Klix the Highwaymans' owners will be more than happy to take you out on their boat fishing the Teifi ;)

rummaging semi successful, have got older type lens cover which has screw holes and more pointy profile and rear view mirror from old van which points down instead of up....

if either of these of any use then you are more than welcome to them for cost of postage, will even clean them up for you:):I. Have got lampholder for lens to screw into (and got pair if need to match up both sides)

That's the closest I've got here and appreciate you'll want to match up as well as possible to what you have now so no offence taken if no good to you.

Hi Studio

Thanks for digging those bits out, but I need the later type lens cover, and a wing mirror, so Im afraid i will have to say no to your generosity , but thanks again for looking, got two quotes today for the damage both about £2600 ouch.....

ooooh dear, big ouch [:0]

good luck with bits finding, am sure someone'll be able to sort you out - the above is a door/wing mirror (not rear view mirror as my fuddled head described it earlier:I), nothing in pic to show it to scale;) it will clean up ok - again still probably not what you needed but if nothing else turns up it will just be stashed back in the shed for emergencies:)

hi ian how busy are you mate and do you give free quotes on work as i could really do with getting my van finished off properly but i just dont seem to get the time. i would of course supply all the right panels to complete the task. please write back asap.many thanks woolfy.:p;)

hi woolfy

how busy am i, well the restoration side of the buisness is booked for the next 2 years, but i am always happy to help a fellow rootes man/woman, i do give free quotes but without seeing the commer it would be difficult.

we offer everthing from a small scrap repair to a full restoration, we do not plate over rust but cut it out and replace with new steel, making new panels if needed

the seconded side of the buisness is the moden[xx(]stuff

the third side is all the custom work

but my favorite is the weldathons and sprayathons, the last one was an allegro, myself, the owner and a friend sterted friday night and lasted untill sunday night, one would cut out the rust i would make and weld in new panels the third cleaned up the welds and undersealed,
two sills one wing one arch and a lot of welding underneath, the following weekend we preped it and painted it in 2 days and one night.

so yes i can help

ian:)
