Commer Spotted!

I was driving along the A303 towards the SouthWest, and lo and behold, i spotted a Commer Camper going in the opposite direction!

I saw it in Wincanton, and was a yellow/creamy colour...

wasnt able to read the numberplate!

but was the same style as Sky, only it had a square pop-up top rather than a round one like Skye.

wonder who it could have been..

ooh! and i saw it at about 17:45 :D

Hi Jonny, Hope you made it safely back to London. My daughter was travelling back from a visit to her grandmother in Woking. She said that she has never seen a commer out and about until now. I have just recently sold my lovely Skye to Andydna and Sarah. I had her for nearly 2 years but the credit crunch saw to that; I reluctantly had to sell her[V]She is in good hands tho. Hope you have lots of fun with your van - Don't forget to give it a suitable name :)

So was that your first drive in a commer then? What you think? Did you do any big hills on your journey?:D;)

My daughter was in her car. We sold Skye on Tuesday after only advertising her on here on Sunday! NO!! she didn't like hills - but then who does? lol We went to a couple of meets, the last being to the New Forest in Oct 08. Take a look at the pics to see the line up of vans that were there. Skye is a rare camper as she is only one of a few Olympian Haylett conversions ever seen around.[^]

Glad to hear that the Wanderer found a new home. I have a soft spot for the Wanderer, particularly the 1967 model as we owned one between 1968 and 1971. It was a big part of my life. :)

If you look on Studio's Commer archive, you will find an Autocar test of a brand new Wanderer in 1967. :p

If you log on to you-tube and type in commer, Swanage and 1968 you will cine film of our old girl. I am hoping to download more archive film, but my dvd recorder has broken. [xx(]

Regards
Chris.

Sorry to hear about Skye :( sounds a very big shame i saw the photo's of her and she was lovely! i have got a name THE JOGLER seems to fit it perfectly with the number plate and i'm a juggler.

it wasnt me! i was in a little VW polo :D
i wonder who that could have been as well..
i didnt pass another Commer, either on the other side, or the same side...
she was a very lovely van, and we were sad to see her go.. but these things must happen
