Commer spotted in darkest Suffolk

Greetings everyone and welcome to all the new members. :D

One of my work colleagues was out and about yesterday when they spotted this Commer. Remembering my strict instructions, they took a photo and here it is - someting a little different! [^]

I wonder if it is a real food van or someone with a strange sense of humour. Either way I love it, nice sliiiiders [8D]

Probably a food van, as it has a shelf sticking out of the near side ;)
Also looks like it could be a giant winch on the front, to pull customers in :I

how mad is that!!!:D:D:D
there must be a pavement outside an ice cream shop somewhere with half a giant ice cream cone left[:0]

would love to know what the cover is for under the bull bars[?]

looks like a genuine trader with that bulge over side window (also recognise the little flag holder on the front from friends ice cream van;))

Can't see any soft Italian ice cream machine or 99s, so it probably only has gallon tubs of the nasty yellow hard stuff in the big freezer which they get out with the school mash potato scoop. I expect the cones are soggy and they've run out of monkey's blood too. How disappointing...

thats real cool [8D] just the one cornetto.......with sliding doors :D

Been out today to take some more photos and try to contact the owner. Owner was not about, but I left a note through the front door with my contact details and the forum address. :)

Judging by the van and the details in the windows, the owner looks to be one of us!!!! Not quite scoring 10 on the sensible scale[:0]

It looks like it serves real food and ice cream, none of your Mr Softy stuff. The winch on the front is a generator. Looks like it might benefit from some of Woolfy's panels.

Look forward to hearing from the owner, it would be a great addition to a Commer meet. The ultimate cool Commer. [8D]

You get a 10% discount on ice cream :p. If it is £1 a cone then you'll only need to buy 50 and you'll get your money back :D

Admin - mental note, this link should be on the website:)

I had a call today from Paul, the owner of this Commer. He is currently without internet access, so can't access the forum, but he has promised to join us. His main concern at the moment is improving the brakes due to his usual heavy payload (lots of ice cream :p). He is asking whether a disc conversion is possible (or necessary) and whether a servo can be fitted. I seem to recall a thread recently on this very subject, but any advice you can give me to pass on would be greatly appreciated.

Bit of info about the van, he has had it a couple of years and the high top is from a Sherpa. He did pass on some further inform to my wife some while ago, which I wrote down and subsequently got tidied! However, when he gets his internet back he will be able to share it all with us. :)

the servo route is pretty simple, just buy a remote one and fit it on somewhere below the level of the master cylinder, plumb in the brake line and add a hose to the manifold for vacuum, hey presto one servo :)
