commer roof design

Hi there! Yesterday while checking for potential leaks and rust areas, I started thinking about the shape of the edges of the roof of my Wanderer.

What's the thinking behind that shape? That 1cm wide groove that goes around the roof... The rain is chanelled to the lowest point of that groove, where it accumulates until it overflows, to then start dripping over headlamps, window seals, joints,... even right inside the van when opening the rear door.

Is there supposed to be a hole or an evacuation area in the groove somewhere? Perhaps it has been covered with filler, etc in my van?

cheers

I believe there should be a gap either side, just forward of the door pillar and another at the rear corners. Perhaps someone with a van to look at can confirm.

There are two types of gutter drain, yours should have a slit, about half an inch long, in the gutter about an inch or so in front of the screen pillar. There should also be one on each of the rear corners - they are very narrow and easily get blocked:I

Its dark outside but I'm pretty sure my Dodge has 2 lips like the rear gutter has

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.

Yes it does. A spout either side, in front of door. Just above windscreen rubber

Yes they are the later type, they look like little jug spouts - a much better idea. The earlier vans just had the little slits:I

Bloody Commer`s!

Straight down back panel and through cap seal. Later design had flush fit cap. See Daphne thread in readers rides.

cheers guys, I'll grab a ladder and carefully inspect the whole gutter. If I can't find any holes, I'll grab the drill. lol
