Commer Panel Van

One of my friends has quite a few Commers and Rootes group vehicles and whilst browsing one of his sights I spotted a Commer Panel van, ex BT I think.

The site is www.rootesgroup.com follow the links page to Old Truck Spares and you will find some photos on the images page. He is having quite a clearout so have a look at what he has for sale, might be of interest?

Thanks for that!

Can anyone tell me if this:

Crown wheel/pinion 5200244 Standard 1 £35.00 Ratio 5.125:1

is what I would need to fix my diff?

Yes its Hugh's site. He hasn't mentioned the van so I assumed it must have already found a good home.

That's one of the ratios available. Is it just the crown wheel and pinion that is damaged in your diff - there's plenty more stuff in there to wear and break.
One of the committee members of my local club had the diff of his Alpine re-built at what seemed to be very reasonable cost, if you bear with me for a while I'll see if I can get some more details.

Its worth taking the diff apart as the CW&P isnt usually what goes, and this is the most expensive part of a diff. Its usually just an output shaft or sometimes the input shaft. What are the symptoms?

Whilst chasbaps is flying to South America for work I can answer - a whining that happened initially at 55, then 50, then 45 very loud!

I was lucky enough to replace yori's with one from dozer's van. I have come across another axle from a PA 1500 engine but we don't know whether this will cause a problem with frodo being a dodge badged commer 1725 the last thing they want to do is give it "shorter legs"

5.1 is very low, but the alternative 5.6 is even worse, 4.6-4.8 would be much better but i don,t know if they are available that high [?]
