commer on ebay

It must be the same with mine, I just have never thought about it being removable. But one of mine is a standard 4-berth Highwayman, whicj is in use. The other one is a 5-berth with these brackets, but that has been off the road for years - awaiting a future restoration when funds will allow it. Could be a while.. so it's has been hibernating in a barn for a few years now.

And I can see the bids are coming in now. Good ! :)

Hi Paul,

I'm from the south-western coast, and grew up near the town Stavanger. I have seen the northern lights, yes, but only twice. They are a frequent sight up north, I've heard, but down in the south of the country it is really rare. The only time I've experienced it proper, we were driving late at night in an area with little lighting. We had to stop the car and watched it for about 15 minutes I think. It was absolutely amazing! When they say it is like the sky is on fire, that is just what it is. Only in green colour. It's like a massive stage curtain moving constantly - across the whole sky, and you cannot tell what it is going to do next. One of those experiences which you'll never forget. Never been to the Ice Hotel - or should I say Ice Hotels.. Thet seem to have caught on, so they pop up several places now. Even here in Oslo they have an Ice Bar during the winter. Totally mad! I don't like the cold, so I shiver just thinking about it.. [xx(]

Some photos here from the Jæren area on the South-western coast, where I come from. A really flat area which stretches for miles and miles, and totally unique in this country which is mostly covered by fjords, mountains or forests. Mild winters, and even more rain than in England. Massive farmland area which supplies the whole country all year round (longest farming season in the country due to the mild climate).

Wow Absolutely stunning. The light looks amazing too. That's whetted my appetite. I went to a Fjord a couple of years ago, in Montenegro funnily enough, apparently the only country outside of Scandinavia to have one, which was really beautiful but probably not on the scale that you know them to be.

Hello everyone,

I've been off the commer trail for a while, and now I find there are hours to go on a commer that is practically on my doorstep! (this one).

I've not been watching lately, so have no idea how much Highwaymans have been going for, and this looks like a particularly impressive one. Any thoughts on how much you'd pay for this (appreciate that people may not want to show their hands ;-) )

I don't think I'm going to get over to see this one before the auction ends, either so - how many of you have bought a commer unseen? Would you?

I only crop up here when I want something :I

Hope you're all well and pootling the Summer away in your vans!

Bought my Highwayman based on photos and a chat with the owner. No regrets. Sold it last week for £2,000. This cornish one looks nicer than mine though.

Eek! £6K plus. I am still Commer-less. I didn't bid. I realised that my panic about the van appearing in such good condition AND just around the corner was almost clouding the fact that a Highwayman isn't really what I'm after, and that I don't currently have a garage :-| So, will just keep watching, but if that's any indication of the way Commer prices are going... perhaps I'll get a Hilman Imp and a tent instead :)
