Commer Jack.

Hi all,

I am after a jack to fit the jacking points in Smurf as jacking it up without a special one is hard to say the least, martin maltas said they were quite rare so even some pictures we could use to possibly make our own would be good.

Cheers,

Will

I was chuffed when I discovered Peggy had two. Unfortunately I recently discovered that one is currently knackered! I'm going to put it to one side and have a go at repairing it when I have a garage to work in.

Peggy can do 78mph!
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Go on ebay and type in Taxi jack, theres a London taxi Fairway jack on for a tenner, look as though it'll fit ;)

Dont quote me on this but i think rover P4 jacks are the same, the reason i say this is the last time i went in my rover was to put some commer wheels on it and i vaguely remember thinking they got the same jacks, this could also be true as the rover has to be lifted a fair way to reveal the back wheels to remove them especialy as in my case on the earlier ducks back ones ie 1950-1955. this may help;):)

Dont try and lead me astray....i know the way myself!!

The Rover jacking points are smaller, I found out last year at a car show when a greyhound got stuck under the owners lovely P4. He didn't have a jack so we tried mine - too big to go in th'ole. Happy ending though as the dog was eventually enticed out with a bit of cheese:)

There,s your answer Will, save some money on the jack and just carry a greyhound and some wenslydale :D;)

greyhounds are stupid things when it comes to closed spaces, fairly stupid in open ones too, but fast!

Hello Will,

the £1 jack I bought at Beaulieu last September was from a Rover P6 I think. They have loads of suspension travel hence the height needed.

Rust never sleeps – cavity wax and valium should do it
