Hi Commerades,

we are brand new to the world of the Commer, and are very excited about the prospect. It looks like you lot are a helpful bunch so I thought I’d pick your brains..

We are picking her up at the weekend (provisionally Named ‘Gordon’ by my girlfriend, which I find mildly odd as I thought vehicles were commonly referred to as she/her)
I’ve been doing a spot of research into insurance, and most of the standard insurer either won’t touch vans from `75 or do not have comer in the option lists.

Can you recommend any insurers generally used for Commers?

I just got insurance for my commer, triumph 2500 PI and Imp, all fully comp, unlimited mileage, overseas cover etc from Peter D James for £120. This is less than what I was previously paying Footman James for my Triumph - on its own.

Google them and give them a try.

Hi Guys, welcome to the madhouse, our insurance is with Footman James, 65 Commer Highwayman and 59 Minx - agreed value, unlimited mileage, fully comp, about £120 :D:D

Hi All,

Thanks for the welcome and the great advise. Got a heap of quotes now all looking pretty good.Still not officially part of the club yet as we have to wait until Sat to pick up the beast.

Navyreg1970 - yup this was Weirs green & white beauty... I know I probably paid a little over his original asking price, but she was too peeerty to pass up.

I'm hoping that if I need to do a bit of work on her I can come back and pick your brains??

Hi Guys welcome from one Gordon to another!

We have just bought our first commer - 'Gordon' too so are learning as we go![8D]

The guys and gals on here have made us feel very welcome as I'm sure they will you :)
