Engine could be repaired I guess, not sure whats gone wrong yet, it lost power and seized very quickly when it cooled down it restarted but pours smoke runs on 3 pots and knocks and rattles! The van is stuck in Luton and I need to get it recovered back here, a good s/h engine is going to be a lot cheaper than a rebuild.....but I need to find a good engine!quote:

That sounds a bit of a disaster Alan [xx(]
Can certainly help with an engine change though :)

It has been a disaster and made worse by the fact that the AA refused to recover it because I had my trade plates on it which has never been an issue in the past! Its too big and heavy for my truck to legally carry and not worth a tug from vosa!
Not sure if I should`nt just get it recovered to you and you can diagnose the problems and fix em, what do you think?

it might be tappets come loose I had that happen on Sybhil iirc loads of noise smoke rocker cover off tighten up away she went!
how tall is this van thats too heavy for your truck ;)

It sounds pretty terminal [xx(] and probably not worth messing with, it will most likely need a full rebuild. As you say, replacement engine would be cheaper/easier :)

Too much blue smoke for it to be tappets I think! Its "running" on 3 pots so I suspect a holed piston or broken rings plus the engine seized! and if it is a broken piston then the debris from that will probably have picked up on the crank.
The van weighs over 2 tonnes and is about the size of your Dandy, it would be asking for trouble to transport it 85 miles home, if I get stopped by plod or vosa and they weigh the truck I will have to remove the Jennings and arrange transport from wherever and get a nice hefty fine for being overweight....and I am in enough poo poo with it as it is!:(quote:
