How come you describe this van as a "Shed" ?, if I was the owner I'd be pretty aggrieved to find that a Moderator of this respectable forum site was describing it as such.

Commerchris is not referring to the Dandy as an actual Shed, nor would she describe any van in that way, not even ours! At the Commer meets an award is given to the best van there and as a side award, one is given out called the 'Shed' award. Also at the last meet a new award was made - 'Best breakdown'. It is all a bit of fun and in no way is it to upset anyone. Everyone LOVES not only their own van but also any that is still on the roads in whatever form.

Commerchris won the award - as voted by people at a meet (including moderators!) so it is a tounge in cheek comment saying that if she was to own the Dandy it would be a darn good shed...as a replacement for her past named shed.

The fact that Admin as site starter upper and Martin Maltas as well as Woolfy - Commer saviours - all vote and giggle at this award certainly shows that this is not a serious thing, else they would of offended many and been made to look very unprofessional ;).

I must also state that although Sybhil won the award at a previous meet - the van is a brilliantly looked after van. Mechanically amazing and very solid.

The Belgians won it at the last meet.

Chris even suggested that she thought Peggy should have won 'Best Shed' - bloody cheek!

Peggy drinks too much!
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Ouch! that hurts Sorry you read it that way! Jon sums it up nicely (Thank you :I I owe you a a fresh cream Cake :D )
Sybhil is a "shed" but a lovely Shed some one on hear has first refusal if you or others are not interested in the "Colonel" only then I will be selling or persuing the Dandy :p (which is Certainly not a "shed" imo having said that I have not viewed it) as I don't feel I would need to as I would expect to have to do stuff to it.I did not view Ran before purchase nor Sybhil & have no regrets.
Now let us know how you get on ? & Good luck should you view & purchase Him.

Going to see it Saturday, although not looking forward to the trip, South Surrey to N. Wales, and I'm feeling a bit apprehensive as it'll be the first van like this I've ever looked at, and I'm not sure what I should be looking for, but it seems that a lot of welding has been done for the last MOT last year, and the previous owner seemed to have done quite a bit, so hopefully no major Shocks for the up coming one, but I've had enough 60's/70's cars in my time to know what to expect, so if I do become the new owner, I intend to get it mechanically straight before I worry too much about appearance, and as I do all that myself no huge labour bills.:D

So that's the state of play at the moment.

Paul, from the Naughty Corner with Dunces cap :I:D

just take a screwdriver to stab away with an a magnet to detect bodge :)

we drove that distance in a day to collect the A60 was fun :DEnjoy it!

I don't think you should take a screw driver to the colonel! not until you have bought him any way! definately a magnet can of fuel a must will you drive him home? ooh so many questions so excited for the Colonel :p

To be honest, I wish I did have someone with me who knew what to look for, as it's been a while since I checked over such an old vehicle.

I'm not worried by trivial things just the stuff that's Commer specific, and as long as it's not going to cost me as much again to just to keep it on the road, I'll be a happy bunny.

I would have gone up by train but at over £70 I had to give that idea a miss, so I've got a relative coming with me to drive the car back if needs be.

But it's going to be fun whatever :D

I would of personally just bought it blind, sorted my insurance out with recovery!then driven home knowing if it breaks down I can get home :D
really looking forward to hearing more good or bad :p wish it was me [|)]

And relax

Picture it - Panky cruising the stastosphere, cape flapping gently in the thin air at 100,000 feet when what do his Commer focused eyes detect on the North Wales coast........OMG it's the Colonel looking sad and forlorn[:0] He needs saving[^]
SWOOP a steep dive and a deal is done and the Dandy comes home to Widnes:D(with Panky:I)
