Commer conversion

Well, ive been thinking of how i could 'slightly' improve the performance of my trusty commer Highwayman. So i have found a suitable 'donor' engine for my van...
It looks like it will kind of fit, i feel i may have to modify the exhaust manifold slighty and maybe fit bigger jets to the carb.Maybe to i will have to change the rear diff ratio...
But judging by the photo it should be a straight forward swop, i wont bother telling my insurance company, like who would know i had swapped engines anyway!!....

what do you think?

The manifold drain will need enlarging somewhat:D:D But tell me, what do you use to keep your overalls so white [?]

I believe running 15" wheels will be ok, and i am confident that the drum brakes will still stop me.however i feel the front end may take flight during acceleration and i may incurr slight toothache as the windscreen is forced down my throat as i reach mach 1...

I also believe the gentleman on the left is sitting on something long and hard!..[}:)]

those engine mounts look almost the same as the commer ones though dont they!.I reckon i'll need a bigger starter motor though, and maybe some kind of soundproofing.

Nah, just use the starting handle and a thick coat ;). You may need to re-position the steering wheel about 6 foot to the right though.

shes a beauty aint she ,the engine chris not you, although ive heard through the grape vine your a bit of a dish yourself.:D
