Commer camper van project...

Apologies for starting with a for sale/info thread.
This was going to go straight onto ebay with a low start and no reserve, but then i spotted your forums and thought it may be more suitable to see if it is of interest on here first.

This van belongs to a friend of mine who inherited it with a property - it has been stood for many years and we think the brakes are seized.
I am unsure of just how much rot is underneath - I have just assumed the worst!
There is no V5 with it but a receipt will be supplied.
He and I have no knowledge of these vans! I am used to rusty British stuff (old range rovers and such like), but commers are totaly new!

It's based near Exeter - I will do my best to answer any questions, but doubt I can help much! Viewings by appointment as it's in a locked yard and it's near either of us...

Price wise - no idea - any thoughts?

So the pictures at this link will mean a lot more to you lot than us!

Previous owner has a sense of irony;)
Hi Stan and welcome to the madhouse:D The van is a Highwayman and on first impressions, doesn't look too bad - but obviously we cant see what is lurking underneath. One of the big problems with coach builts is water ingress into the frame and the rot it causes so any prospective buyer would want to have a good poke around, and as most of the interior has been removed this is actually possible. There's a chassis number and number plate so getting new documents shouldn't be an issue as long as the previous registered keeper doesn't object to the sale - I'm sure others will have an opinion too.
As for a value, that is difficult, I would start at £1000 and be prepared to be bargained down dependent on what is found on inspection. Good look with the sale.

Many thanks for your replies - the closest it has to a turbo is a big snail in the engine bay....

Good to know what model it is and that it sounds like it may be of use to someone, somewhere - that's quite important to us, rather than it just going off for scrap!

If i get the chance over the weekend i'll see if i can get underneath and see how much is left!

Just a quick heads up and another thank you for all the input on this van.
I have scheduled an ebay listing to start tomorrow evening at 8pm for 7 days with a £100 start and no reserve as he could do with it out the yard early in the year.

Many thanks again and a Happy New Year to you all :)
