Commer advice needed

We have a Commer wreck and would be interested if anyone can tell me the model and year (or where to look). Would this model be of interest to those restoring Commer's and what would it be valued at?

No motor or gearbox. All glass present and in place.

Hi Martin and welcome to the Madhouse on the brand new year:D
Judging by the large badge on the front and evidence of a three bar grille your bus is quite early possibly a Series 2 or 2A FC so we're talking early 60's and very desirable. I'm afraid I'd have to leave it to a fellow Aussie to comment on price but over here we are suckers for 'patina' so it's any ones guess really;)

Thanks Panky. I have managed to find a compliance plate. There is a 61 mentioned in the chassis number and 65 in the engine number. Would either of those relate to year of manufacture?

It actually says Series 11A on the plate so pretty sure that would put it '61'/'62 Individual numbers contained in the engine/chassis numbers wouldn't normally indicate date of manufacture but obviously there is a listing somewhere to cross reference plate details to year. Try the Rootes Archive Centre, they hold a lot of details and may be able to pin it down accurately - but I suspect there will be a charge for the service.

There's a link to an email address for a chap called Bob Allan at the bottom of the page, I think he's the fella to contact.
If you dig around the site there's also a history of Commer cars which gives a few references to the models we're talking about.

Hi Martin,
By the door step and rear side windows it looks like you have what was once a bus like mine only earlier model.
From the photos the van looks quite restorable and i am sure someone out there will want it, however missing the running gear and in its current condition is not really worth a lot i am afraid.
They occasionally come up on EBAY AU and GumTree and in that condition bidding usually starts at at around $500AU. Restored and original can easily be worth 15K plus.
I guess its worth what someone will pay.
Good luck with it and i hope you find it a good home, although quite a few Commers still exist in OZ very few are road worthy especially here in WA. So it would be great to see someone have a crack at it.:)
