Commer 1968 PB Auto sleeper Fridge

Hi everyone ! Can anyone tell me what model of electrolux fridge fits into a 1968 PB Autosleeper ? Does anyone have one for sale ? Or know where we could get one ??
We have the original interior and when we bought our van the fridge had been removed, so we just have the empty cupboard. Any info appreciated, Louise
 
Hi Louise. There's on in our Auto-Sleeper, I'll check for any clues tomorrow.
I think the more modern version was the RM122 - not sure if the model number changed with the slightly different door it had.
 
If you need dimensions let me know. I have taken mine out to rebuild cupboards. Does your camper have an outside vent? Doubtful as mine doesn’t so you would have to consider it as that model is a gas only. Try an find a modern one that will fit that’s electric if you don’t want to punch a hole in the side
 
No, we havent outside vent, we have the top grill in the cupboard worktop and the bottom gas exhaust. Yes I think your right best option is modern electric one. Thanks very much for your help
 
The justkampers one electric as well so you could just not connect a gas supply to it? I would check with electrolux tech support to make sure it would still work, but I don’t see why not. Quite expensive Maybe one of those travel car lighter fridges would fit in the space? Depends on how often and how long you go traveling really
 
Yes, I have been looking at the car/camping ones, thats probably going to be the best option for price and availability.

And you will definitely need an outside flue if you run it on gas, can't imagine what Auto-Sleeper was thinking of when they vented it straight into the van:eek:
The other thing to check is if the wheel arch has been modified to take a fridge, there should be a step cut into it to allow the fridge to go in.
 
Glad I took apart cupboards to rebuild them as discovered all the gas piping was perishing with cracking all along it all. Eek!
 
There were very nasty scorch marks on the cupboard frame above the fridge vent when I stripped the interior out of mine, actually a bit more than scorched they were charred all around the 'protective' aluminium plate they stuck on the frame.
 
It's fine running it on electric, but I don't trust it on gas - even with an external flue.
 
Yep, bought a heater element and fitted it. The tube for the heater is already there under the insulation on the back of the fridge.

Attached a 240 plug to the end of the cable and plugged it in - you can see the plug in the pic I posted above. It's very efficient and we quite often have to turn the fridge off at night to stop everything freezing up. You can also get a 12v version but not tried one, probably only good to run off the battery if on the move.
