Had some email correspondance with a collegue of mine at the main Vauxhall warehouse near Luton earlier in the week. And as I hadn't spoken to him for a month and a half, I told him that I'd recently bought a nice example of "Luton's finest" just to provoke him a bit

.. but he picked up on the subject and actually had some interesting info which I thought I'd better share with you all.
He told me that Commer Vehicles were situated in Dunstable on the opposite side of the road from themselves (Vauxhall plant), where they used to build the Bedford trucks. He also told me that the labour force actually used to go to and fro between Commer and Bedford depending who was paying the best hourly rate at that time. (Haha, did anyone mention "brand loyalty"? )
The Bedford truck plant he referred to no longer exists (is now a trading estate with various shops), BUT he tells me that the Commer plant is still there (!!) - even though it now is a Renault Trucks site. I could hardly believe it !
The address is apparantly:
Renault Trucks, Boscombe Road, Dunstable, Bedfordshire ..
