I'm the other half of this commer partnership. I like Kermit personaly, I'm imagining a toy frog for the dashboard already.:p

Some good news, she's been MOT'd and passed. A few minor things, bulbs, cracked water hose. But otherwise in great condition, can't wait to pick her up this weekend, and for once (owing to exemption) I'm looking forward to collecting a tax disc!

He's married me- so he's definitely a sandwich short of a picnic already[:0] She's definitely meant to be - i think we won her by the skin of her teeth on the ebay auction. We've decided we're going to wait on deciding on a name until we're pootling back toward Devon in her - we reckon the chosen name will be decided once we're in her :D
 
:D:D I can see you'll fit in well around here. Have you driven a Commer before? If not then you are in for a shock sorry treat - nothing quite like it, but ultimately enjoyable and fun (as long as you are not in a hurry :I)

hello welcome to the club. Panky is right about the driving style. All the "highupness" of a 4x4 with great forward control seating position (stop the van when you think your knees are against the garage wall!)

don't take roundabouts too fast! (its actially impossible)

Did I tell you about the story I read about the Telecom engineer who preferred the Commer to the other offerings - because he liked the oversteer on round-a-bouts [:0][:0]

Difficult to say, if little is needed for the MOT then you could pick up a bargain. Good vans are going for anywhere between 1500 and 3000 atm, if the chassis and bodywork look good then you are onto a winner (you can create an interior to your design, and there are plenty of threads on engine swaps....) There are some bargains to be had right now, depending on how keen you are to be doing a bit of work.

Thanks for the welcomes:)We've never driven a Commer before - so Saturday is defintely going to be an experience - but very much looking forward to it - I reckon we're going to be arguing about who get's the first go:p:p. Fingers crossed we manage to make it from Bournemouth to Devon without a spell on the hard shoulder!

Hi Coasteramy & Countcommer, welcome to the forum & many congratulations on the new van. You sound like the just the right sort of people to enjoy the madness that is commer ownership - hope you have a great drive back and only stops are for tea breaks;) Look forward to hearing how you get on. Titch is good but I like Kermit too - something from the 70s that is still going strong today:)

hammocks look good! I have some VW ones in Jessica (autosleeper) the poles are about 8cm too short and there is very little space between them (if you use two) which is good as it stops the kids falling out!)

Crikey Charlie - you could do everyone's vans with all that and still have enough left to cover the hard shoulder on the M6 [:0] Woolfy would be upset;)
