Clutch Problem

Hello guys and gals, my wee van Lille has been working far to well this year! After my shinny new exhaust manifold was fitted its been perfect, even sailed through its MOT, then after a great weekend away and a trip to 'The World Ceilidh' music festival where Lilly ended up being one of the star attractions she decided to cause me some bother (

The clutch pedal seems to creep down and there's no pedal whatsoever, it will go into gear but if doing any clutch control at a junction the pedal goes, jerks the van forward and sticks in gear! It's ok when your moving and going through the gears but as soon as my foots on the pedal for a few seconds it creeps down and disappears.

I'm presuming its ether the slave cylinder or the master cylinder but not sure which one, is there a common one to go?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Colin

Bring Me Sunshine !!

Had exact same problem on my Singer Vogue (same engine/gearbox etc as Commer). Replaced both in the end, not too expensive or difficult.

If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Hi Colin, sounds like the seals in the master cylinder are shot allowing the fluid to bypass them. I would just replace it rather than messing about with the seal kit.

I just need a good rootes...

I would advise changing both. Otherwise what can happen is the good new seals on one cylinder tend to up the pressure on the tired old seals on the other, blowing them out in x days or weeks time.

Cheers
Jules
