Clova's Electrics

Were having a few problems and were hoping that someone might know what we need to do.
First thing is, that the O/S brake light doesnt come on at all, this is a picture of it...

This is with the lights on and me pressing the brake pedal, the N/S one works fine but the o/s is being awkward.

Can anyone help us on how to fix it? Weve been told its an earthing wire, but Nicks having problems finding THAT wire... any more help???

Also, were both very confused about the horn. We've found where the two points meet, causing an electric shock and for the horn to sound but, we don't know how to make these two points meet when pressing a button.
Here is a picture:

And on the steering wheel, there is a little hole with a metal Rod on a spring in it which were guessing causes the two points to meet and beeps the horn, but this metel rod moves with the steering wheel? which is as much use as a chocolate teapot??

HELP??!?!!?

Sorry to ask but have you checked that bulb or its brake live feed ?

Ours are a combined stop/tail light with a separate filament for each operation, so maybe one of these has blown. As the taillight is working this suggests to me that the earth is fine.

When I sorted our indicator switch recently I noticed that the horn didn't then work, it transpired that I hadn't replaced my indicator quite high enough up the steering column for the metal strip to remain in permanent (? live) contact with the metal ring under the steering wheel. Doesn't sound like this is causing your issue though but thought I'd mention just in case it's of help

you know the handbrake is on the front wheels? brake lights come on when handbrake is on. worth taking lenses off any lights & checking bulbs for damage & corrosion.Earthing wire is usally black? unless they mean the earth from the battery. Is the horn in centre of steering wheel? not on a switch?
is the little metal rod to do with indicator stalk?
is there a large spring that goes over the nut in the centre of the wheel.it's been ages but had to fix sybhils horn when I first got her.

Another daft question but do you have the horn button that sits in the middle of the sreering wheel:I

'Harvey the RV'

The metal contact in the top picture, contacts with the underside of the steering wheel. Current is then passed from there, by the short biro looking tube, up to the horn button. when you press the horn button, it contacts with the centre of the steeing columb, earthing the circuit and sounding the horn ;)

On the rear lights, there is an earth wire that comes out of the back of the unit, this bolts to one of the lamp mounting bolts. It may have dropped off, requiring a new wire [B)] On some of these lights, there is a big plastic cover over the rear, this has to be pulled off to gain access.
