cleaning seats

hi maybe this is common knowledge but...after deciding we could not afford to have Toby's (i must get used to the name, sam's choice but still want to say Chico' maybe that can be his weekend name!!) front seats recovered, we went yesterday to visit an upholsterer who is going to repair the seat which is torn.

anyway...he told us to try thinners on the seats to clean them, he tested a small sample on the torn seat and said it was fine. you have to be VERY careful and not use too much but the result was amazing.

we have tried it on a couple so far and its looking great so pleased we did not have them recovered now. our seats are cream and its nice to keep the original ones. its one of those things where you do not realise how dirty they are until you clean one, such a difference. anyway 2 pads done - 4 to go!!

could also be the sort of thing that alcohol based stuff would work well on - and if you can still find it anywhere - cleaner called 'stardrops' very good.

yup, that's the one - last time I saw it was in kwik save before they went under, good to see it still made, wonder if it's still on the high street somewhere[?]

smell can be a bit potent at first though[xx(]

far more simple.. cheaper? and much more scary...

BABY WIPES!

Those buggers will clean anything - attacked yori's front seats one very wet camping day and a bit of elbow grease and WOW cannot believe they are ok for kids skin!

Failing that there is another "amerzin" product that a certain long haired mini lover (just realised that is at least three people on here) er red wine loving chap found - perhaps he can recall the trade name?

we once spilt some 'Kandoo' that kids frog shaped soap stuff in our sink (its copper) and couldn't believe how clean it came up. same thing made me wonder what is was doing to kids[:0]
