Classic Camper - Please save her!!

Hi All,

As you may know, or Commer is called Fontaine. She was named after our first camper a renault estafette....we named Fontaine! There was too much (we thought at the time) to do to her and we really didn't have the skill. So we sold her and brought our Commer. I was just searching for classic renaults on ebay and fate has brought us back together. Both Cara's and mine initials are in the number plate - which is why we brought her in the first place. You can see the listing here -

Thinking back, she was very solid other than the gaping whole shown in one of the pictures! She would need a new engine, new brakes, new paint job, new almost everything! (the interior is almost all there) We just adore her so so very much. I hope someone can give her a new lease of life....or at least quote us an unbeatable price to do it for us (over to you Martin/Woolfy - seriously)!!

You can see one of only 4 (i think) left in the country here for sale -

http://renaultccc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=carsell&action=display&thread=97. This example wasn't as nice as the photos made out, she looked a lot more drab when we tested her.

Estafettes are rare here, parts are readily available throughout France and Holland.

we haven't brought her back, but it would feel right too! We have no idea how much it would cost to get her anywhere near the road! We are learning the basics with Fontaine the commer, but this is a bit much!

If you have got some where to store it then don't hesitate - buy it back and sort it out later - this could be your last chance.

Scuse my bluntness but JFDI - you know you want to. If it loose it you will kick yourself - carp diem - seize the day and worry about it tomorrow. Remove the sensible head and go with your heart:I

That's just a coincidence, that is not fate *tries to convince the fantasy bank manager*....!!

We wanted to keep the number plate and transfer it - but it would of had to have an mot first!

Ah right, ok. Yep our commer is 1965 so a year older. Panky, your bluntness is welcomed. However, we wouldn't be able to touch her for years - i would rather someone who had the time and skill to get her back on her feet do it sooner rather then to our later.

when it comes down to restoration work its a bit akward putting prices on work without actually seeing it in the flesh. because theres always bits lurking underneath that you just cant foresee. but to do a full on rebuild your looking at a lot of money. its all the other bits that add up. sure someone will price for doing the welding and painting ect . but then you get to that stage and all of a sudden you notice that the chrome headlight rings and bumpers are rusty and are going to let the overall appearance down. or the rubbers around the doors and windows are knackered ect and are going to look scruffy when finished. so it really does depend on how far you are willing to go. but give me a call anyway as i lost your number from when we spoke the other day. cheers.;):p

A friend of mine wanted a Hillman, like the one his Dad had, when they were kids. Then his Dad's car came up out of the blue. He messed about and it was snapped up. He has regretted it ever since [V]
Just go do it, worry about the rest later, you only get one chance at life ;)
