We'll be heading back from Inverness on the 3rd, so that seems like a good place for a tea break. Does more than two Commers in one place constitute an illegal gathering? Two birds of prey with flu does.... Ill eagle gathering, get it? Come on wake up

Looks really impressive.....perhaps we could visit there as we're staying 55 miles away in Luss on Loch lomond for 3 days before heading to Inverness area

Back home now. 1,273 miles covered. Hardly missed a beat. Only two blips to report... a slipping fan belt and on the way home I turned the heater valve off and she started to run hot (nearly into the red). Turned heater valve back on and ran nicely again. Any ideas? Other than that, absolutely fantastic time. Lovely to see Colin and his bus (nearly missed each other). Madam has all the photo's. Roof is going to need major surgery sooner rather than later. A lot of rot making it hard to raise/lower. The runner screws have no decent wood to bite into so the runners keep coming loose. Unfortunately the only thing I can make out of wood is sawdust so need to farm that work out.

Welcome back:)
Sounds like the rad is a bit blocked. A good flushing through may help, but the slipping fan belt wont help either. Try fitting a new one before you start flushing.

Sorted the fan belt out while we were parked up in Rosemarkie but she's due a service so I'll flush the rad out at the same time. Just wasn't sure why the heater tap being on or off would make a difference. Thanks for the suggestion.

The heater is acting as another rad so shutting the water off to it reduces the heat transfer capacity of the whole cooling system, so if the main rad is past it's best the heater will be taking up what rad isn't doing, if you catch my drift. Will be a nice hot heater though:)

Thanks Panky, that makes sense. I was thinking along those lines but it's nice to have someone who knows what they're talking about confirm it.

Just found some pics of our visit to the Peak District last summer. There for eight days. It only rained once. For seven days!
