choke wire

Following up on a previous topic in chat, it appears i might have a short on my commer. I had sparks come off my choke wire when it touched the engine manifold. I have been told it could be the earth strap. Has anyone got ant ideas and where do i find the earth strap?

guess it probably varies but mine comes off the battery and bolts on to the outside of the battery box under the passenger side (you can see it through the front wheel arch i think)

I am not a person, I am a number, 395 actually......Be seeing you!
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

That is not the earth strap that will cause this problem. The engine has to have its own earth strap fixed from the engine to the chassis. If you cannot locate your earth Andrew just run another one anyway to be on the safe side. A sure sign of a poor engine earth, apart from sparking, melted cables and wires, is that the engine will struggle to turn over properly as though the battery is flat.quote:

Hi Beachboy, if its not the earth strap that caused the problem then what would of caused it? A mechanic friend of mine is going to have a look at it. I will get him to run a new earth to be on the safe side.
