Sorry been a while since I last posted I've had my hands tied up with my now 6 month old daughter.
I have however had some time to do some thinking about possible upgrades to the front suspension, brakes and steering as an all in one conversion and started looking at the option of using something like a 60s / 70s chevy or ford front spindle on custom fabricated wishbones which would give disc brake options and a stack load of parts availability. Chevy stuff keeps the same PCD for wheels etc.
I cant see any reason why the standard sub frame couldn't be used with custom wishbones just need to make sure the geometry stays the same (or gets improved). I did look at a completely different subframe or custom one but that might be going too far.
Anyone ever thought along these lines or tried it and had issues?
When I sort the rear with an LDV200 rear axle I'm also looking to add telescopic dampers to replace the lever ones and either an adjustable panhard rod or Watts linkage but that should be pretty straightforward. Happily Matilda already has a rear handbrake which saves some work.
