Change email address on profile

cannot be done I'm afraid Jules - its the primary key on the database and no amount of hacking from my side seems to work:(
 
Not the greatest of forum software, but changing it is a pain I guess.

Just set up your email to re-direct all emails to the new one?

when I win the lotto I will pay someone to migrate to a new platform - a new forum would not be a problem but there is gold in them there threads (some of them anyway!)
 
So has anyone found a method of changing their email address in their profile or does it just have to stay as
a unusable email, I,ve been trying and it keeps telling me that it has timed out

Yup read them all but was hoping that there might be someone on this site more computer literate than me
who may just have come up with a method of doing this over the last few months, but it would appear that
we're all thicko's where computers are concerned. My excuse of course is my age as I cannot even reset
half the things in the house when the clocks alter.
 
As pointed out above "It cannot be done" as opposed to "no-one here knows how to do it". So we're not all thickos where computers are concerned Lulu, it can't be age either as my Dad's 81 this year and he's more computer literate than I am and I use them daily at work. So it must be something else...................................... ;-)

I figured out

I could do it... but this is the path...
download database... takes a while
find one record, change record, save database
upload database... takes a while

Anything that happened in the time it took to do this on the forum would be lost

How about I do this once every few months?

Anyone who wants to change their email address on their profile email me before Friday
Username, old email address, new email address preferably from your "old" email address to verify it is leggit

note that actually getting the database was not possible without emailing someone on the last host server I had so would have lost WAY too many conversations
 
Any progress on the PM system being put right Jon:) A few on here have commented on it doesn't seem to be working:)

When you click on the persons name the option to send a mail appears, you can write the message then when you try and send it nothing happens....

I did it I used renaultvation as my guineapig and managed to change it and I think everything else is fine (except sending emails, the irony) onto fix that next then
 
Admin, I mentioned in the past if you need a hand with any website related stuff then just give me a shout ;)

I'm pretty sure (without checking) that the current database / forum could be migrated across to a new type of forum without losing any of the held info, threads etc.

Also, with a quick glance of the database and a couple of details I could give you some code to edit anything you fancied within the forum (email or whatever).
