Carpets.

Hi I am painting the inside of my cab and there is a lot of carpet material under the seats and on top of the engine cover etc. I was just wondering if was put there by the previous owner or its been there from new, and will be o.k if I take it out?

It will have been put there for sound deadening:I

Thought so, if I remove how noisier will it be? I suppose I can just leave it as it won't make that much difference if I paint the engine cover.

If you have an earlier model and want to return to original, rip it all out.You can insulate your engine bay by removing the cover and surrounding plates "front and sides" and sticking an adhesive engine noise/fire insulation to the underside of the engine covers.
The insulation comes in adhesive squares that you cut to size and stick on, available on eBay;).
Just remember to de-grease and clean thoroughly first or it wont stick.

I used one layer of a black tar like material and then another layer of silver heat retardant to mine and the difference is amazing.
