Ideally you want an SU conversion but that involves manifold modifications (see Commeracer about that)and, with a decent exhaust system, makes a dramatic difference in power and economy. Simplest way to improve things is to fit a Webber, Martin Maltas does a replacement Kit.

I fitted the Webber and it works great as a no hassle change over.Mine came with the necessary adapters and a new choke cable assembly.
It was very easy to fit and works great.
If you are considering overhauling the Zenith DONT!!, they can be a real pain. I spent hours tinkering with mine, put a kit through it, got it working OK then 1 day before licensing inspection it played up again and started running rich and fouling plugs. Reading this forum the general consensus is to ditch it.

The Weber is a easy fit, and a big improvement, but they do tend to be a little rich. SU is far better but more involved

I have a SU HIF6 on a car i have had for 24 years driven it 400K KLM and it has been amazing, apart from the occasional squirt of oil, no problems. So no argument on which is the better carby..

Ah, I doubt it's your carb that is the actual problem, like you said it's getting blocked, so it wouldn't matter what carb you had, you need to find out what is actually blocking it, probably snakeskin from the tank...a couple of inline filters will help, ultimately you need to have a chat with Tim...(apologies if I missed something and you already have one of his nice shiny tanks)
