A belatedly huge thanks to everybody at the Cambridge meet for making Sal & me so very welcome, we had a lovely day out with you all and just a real shame we couldn't have stayed overnight due to our other committments.
Well done to Moley & Brian for winning the trophy, a truly lovely van - infact both the coachbuilts present really surprised us both with just how nice these conversions can be, the first time we've seen some in the flesh. Nice to have our pre-conceptions challenged, so I would say to anybody considering getting a Commer not to automatically rule out a nice coachbuilt, they do have some benefits over a van.
Thanks from us to Chris for organising this event and good weather to order. A special mention must go to Tim for his continued dedication in working on Fontaine for most of Saturday.
I had to smile at that pic of Panky & Colin's embrace

I know there was joking about a Commer key swapping party on Saturday night as I enticement (???) for us to stay on but that wasn't quite what I envisaged [:0]
Seeing all the various Commers together was superb and most inspirational. Sal now seems much warmer to my suggestion to get our van restored over this autumn/winter ... I just need to get her more used to the Commer cornering characteristics for a final agreement -that said she does totally love our van and being out and about in it [8D]
Sal was certainly impressed at our new ability to easily maintain 50/55mph even up long gradients, this was her first decent journey in our can this year. Previously our speed would quickly tail off from 50mph down to below 40mph in similar conditions. A great result from Panky's exhaust, K&N filter and electronic ignition in combination - I would seriously recommend these mods to anybody wanting a more responsive drive - good value too at £65 for the exhaust system bits, £25 for K&N, £20 for electronic points.
Sorry to hear a few Commers had reliability issues on the return leg, hopefully there's not too much lasting work required. After our recent dizzy/oil pump rebuild I was expecting some issues ourselves but lady luck was with us and we had straightforward run in both directions.
Roll on the next meet
