Amongst the carnivorous whiskey fuelled shenanigans, spare a thought for the poor wee critters.
Whilst evolution has granted haggis the advantage of legs on one side of their body being longer than the legs on the other side (so they can stand on the steep Scottish highlands without falling over), it does mean they can only walk around a mountain in one direction. Coupled with the fact that females have their longest legs on the opposite side to males (thus having to walk round the mountain in the opposing direction), this makes mating an infrequent and hazardous affair. [B)] No wonder so many fall to their deaths and the population is dwindling.
I hope therefore that any haggis consumed tonight is of the ‘free range’ rather than ‘wild’ variety.
