Brian's twin for sale

If I had won the lottery it would be mine. I'd buy back Peggy too.

The interior seems to be varnished in darker colour than original, unless that's what it was like in 1964.. But it looks the part, I think (yes, I know I'm biased too). And unlike Brian and mine, this is the "black bumper" version. Chrome bumpers was an extra cost option at the time.

But tell me, why do all these nest in Yorkshire? Both mine are from Yorkshire, and this one is too. Spooky !

I wonder who will be the lucky winner of this auction. I can only hope that whoever ends up buying this one will join the forum, unless they're on here already of course. :)

Jostein, mine is from Yorkshire as well,[:0][:0] I guess a local dealer in the 60's thought he was doing well, selling all these.

1965 Series IIA Bluebird Highwayman

It was reserved at £3k and I am surprised it failed to sell for that even given the time of year. It looks like a lovely van and well worth the reserve price.

I agree. The reserve was reasonable, and itself only half of what that lovely two-tone green '66 model went for earlier this year (although it could be argued that well over six grand was exceptional).

Getting it into good winter storage and put it up for sale again late spring will be the way to go on this one, I think. It will most likely pass the 3K mark then, and possibly considerably more.

I couldn't get this out of my head, in terms of in not selling and all that. So I phoned up the seller some 5 minutes ago.

Turns out that it (as we know) didn't sell on Ebay, and owner planned to put in into storage until the spring an relist it then. But after a couple of days, someone phoned "from a club", came to see the van, and bought it.

All I wanted to hear was if it had been sold or not, and if it had, whether it had gone to a good home. Sounds like it has found its way into an good hands :) But who, and where, I wonder? I didn't want to ask the seller, as it was only a brief chat. But now there is a 1964 Bluebird Highwayman out there which we haven't pinned down. Would be nice to know where it is now and who it belongs to. Please keep your eyes open ! Can't be many B-reg Highwaymen still around, it would hard to miss if you saw one :D

Colin and Jackie (Jackie Pretty) told me that they have been to view this Commer and were negotiating with the seller so maybe they have bought it as a companion to their current Commer "Colin"
Im sure if Colin and Jackie have bought it they will update us all soon.
Dave

Wow! That's interesting news. Let's hope they will be along here soon and inform us whether they end up buying it or not.

Thanks for the update, Dave. :)

Hi guys just to make you all aware neither myself or hubby Colin purchased this van. Yes we went to view. There was a fair bit to do to it, new rubbers all round,no water in the something or other. Did not take it out for a test drive but it did turnover first time. I am as much in the dark as everyone else as to whom has purchased it.[?]
