Morning all!
This could possibly be the last question for a while from me, cos if I can get this sorted, then Frodo is going to a local garage for a couple of hours of mechanic time, a tune up and some tlc, before having his MOT.....
So now he is running, we did a quick once over and found two wiring issues, the first was the horn not working - the indicator stem is shot so a temp fix was a push button on the dash with a sticker saying "horn"!
The other problem was the brake lights, they are not working. so I have a couple of sanity check questions!
The switch is located on the top of the four way junction beside the engine?
The switch should have connections on both sides?
One of these should be live?
When I looked, there were two wires on one side of the switch, and nothing on the other, and a bit further down the engine, two wires connected with a blade connector looking very much like the other two connected to the switch.
Unfortunately, my multimeter had given up, so I wasn't able to cary out any checks. It now has a new battery, but we are going out for the day, some I won't get up till tonight or tomorrow evening - I am meant to be taking to the garage on Tuesday so its cutting it a bit fine.....
SO theoretically, if the switch is connected correctly, one side should be live, and when the pedal is depressed, the circuit is made, and the other side will become live. So using the connectivity setting on the multimeter, if the switch works, I will get a beep when the pedal is depressed. correct?
That way I can know the switch works, and then it is simply a case of linking up the rest of the wires in the correct order!
I think a rewiring may be on the cards later this year - everything looks like its perishing, or is held together by dodgy looking connectors [xx(]
