Needed a piece of timber today, so popped down to Homebase in the Punto. Timber was 2.4m long, so I thought I would drive home with the roof down (it has a good heater). As to roof opened a crease appeared in the rear window, then bang, it split from top to bottom! [V] I suspect the plastic had hardened in the cold weather and become brittle. A repair has been made with strong waterproof tape.
I now need to see if I can get the window replaced, but it appears to be plastic welded to the hood rather than stitched. Otherwise, the roof is as good as new!
Ouch - try and find another[xx(]
Maybe you could cut the old plastic out leaving half an inch all round for some new stuff to be attached to. Not ideal but you could make a feature out of it using stainless nuts and bolts or maybe rivets
I sat in a puddle today my new 1999 Mazda (fiesta)sunroof leaks big time
from one leaky roof to another for me :I
& you thought you had problems!
hope you can get it fixed OK.
Amazing what you can do with some brass domed nuts or rivets as Panky says.
