Bazil's 1972 Commer PB

strange how things work inthe world really. why i hear you ask. well i had an email from another commer wanderer owner only yesterday, who has exactly the same style van ,even down to the colour almost. and he has exactly the same problem as you , (no roof) its rusted away like yours. i will send a few pics to panky for you all to see.;)

I previously owned a VW with a Danbury Pop-Top that came and sat in the gutters, the gutters were non-existent where the pop-top sat in the end. Never been keen on Pop-Tops that come too far down in contact with the Gutter.

I have had several looks at the Wanderer roof I have and I still think it is not worth saving TBH and I think a better option will be to.....

....I am not going to share too many secrets, firstly because it will give everyone surprises (I hope) and secondly because I do not want to disappoint everyone if the project stalls or ends for some reason.

As far as the yellow colour goes.... hehehehehehe.

The pictures do not do the rot justice. The rear vertical seam that is painted with the black rust killer has holes you can fit a screwdriver through down quite a bit of it.

No probs, i dont mind atall if you would like to stick the other pics up, infact it'd be nice to see them up here as i really dont know how long this will take to fix! But i have loads and loads so i wont necessarily be repeating pics.;)

Apart from more primer on the van, its looks identical, I think (hope) I have less rot in the cab roof area. If only I had Woolfy on the case...... :(

Had a chat with Martin Maltas and I think we have come up with a solution regarding the roof :D

I have noticed that there is a small amount of grinder spatter on the windscreen, so I am going to remove all glass except the rear side windows (for strength) and look at getting the windscreen polished up and all chips removed. There are companies like Glasweld that sort out your windscreen, so I might give them a try.

Unless anyone has a mint windscreen for sale?
