Bass' Automatic Camper

cheers again mate , his name is james cole and he signs on as fd gorilla, i think at the end of his postings it says something about hes good at lifting heavy things or something like that. yes as you can see we have put plenty of plasters on those grazes, and there was more than the ones you see there, i think there is about ten in total just on that front panel alone. it decieving really when the chrome trim hides bubbly bits as to how bad they really are. some of them were just really pitted bits of rust which hadnt gone through the metal and other bits were, but its best to cut out the lot to be on the safe side . i will show you a few more pics tomorrow of just how many there actually were.;)
 
I can't wait till Fontaine can have some panels and a bit of surgery. The van(s) are looking great!

That van does look a little sad sat in the cow shed in front of Dog.

Went and had a look and Patience is coming along very nicely. The green is perfect, although a little military at the moment (going to see if I can find some of that chrome/silver side pin stripe detail that Fonatine has as I like the look of that on a one colour van). By the time the paintwork is finished it'll be fantastic. Seeing as we considered the old roller appraoch I'm glad that we budgeted for a pro respray as it'll top off the van nicely.

Service is excellent, is that the right answer Woolfy? ;) Woolfy and I knew that this was a steep learning curve for both of us and he's helping out over and above to make sure that we stay on budget, including making the interior himself which will be great practice for other restorations, and another string to his bow. We're now down to deciding on what money I've got left for things like new lights and hub caps so that we can try and avoid spoiling her look with the old pitted ones....a snagging list so to speak.

Got to say also, bearing in mind we got her at the begining of March and the amount of work that needed to be done in Woolfy's spare time, I'm amazed that he's got through it so quickly....pleased though as we may get some trips out in her in the summer to get us used to her before some winter trips based around whatever football ground we're going to....extra think duvets needed for those weekends! Still it's an excuse to see the country slowly and throughout the year.
 
oh thats nice of you to say those kind few words mate. (the cheque is in the post ok). no, obviously like bass has already said this first van was always going to be a long hard lurning curve for both of us. and without the help of the other guys, who are working along side me, it would have deffinatly taken alot longer. i think bass can back me up on just how good the team is. but i wanted to set out and try and make an honest go of it ,setting up this resto buisness has been hard to do, along side my other two buisnesses or jobs. it has been physicly hard and also costly at times. but i think now the ball is rolling it will only get better for all of us. i also did it see if i could cut the mustard as they say. and also try to inspire others to have a go at restoring there own vans aswell at home using some of my panels which we offer on my website. to show that these old vans really can be transformed back to their former glory, and the worrie of spare parts supplies is long behind us all. i hope ou have all enjoyed the pics i have been taking along the way to try and show just how the vans are put together.;):p

no a good flat back and a few extra touch ups of filler and paint here and there for a better job on the next two coats. its gonna look nice i think.:D;)
 
its ok its ok dont panic people she has a nice new shiney coat again now. we gave her a good going over again today and used up the paint, so she has a good thickness and shine to her now. ive sent the main man the pics again as usual.so we will just have to wait ;)patiently
 
sorry mate for scuffing up your paintwork. but i thought you wanted camoflage adding to it. haha.i looks a lot better now wait and see. i will take some better pics tomorrow, as i couldnt get to close because of the fumes in the workshop.;)
