Barbara

Not sure why barbara but here goes another vehicle. We have been exploring it this morning and mavelling at the way things fit together ( double bed in the cab amazing). The kids wanted to sleep in it last night.
Needs work ( but who does'nt) but I'm determined this time to farm out the bodywork, previous projects getting to dismantled cut and welded carcases before a Freecycle ad or Owners club message heralds the arrival of someone with a trailer to take the sorry looking pile away.
Just need to find a reliable welder and painter in southampton.

There is a very nice van just under the surface[^] Mind you I quite like the look of it as it is [8D]

'Harvey the RV'

The next door neighbour suggested masking it up and leaving it outside the local youth club for them to do a graffiti paint job.

The thing is we have had that many rough rusty heaps in the past it would be nice to have at least one vehicle with a modicum of finish.

i can help you with those door skins if you like ,i also now have a friend of mine who is a very good welder and bodywork man who is thinking of going into buisness with me and starting to offer restoration work to vans and maybe even a swoping system with the front doors, where you send us your old door and a fixed price of money before hand and we will send you a door that has had a new woolfy door skin put onto it and the inside of the door repaired. then fillered and sprayed in primer ready for you to take to the body shop to be painted.:p;)

A service exchange for doors mmmm - a crazy idea that just could work

Where abouts in the country are you - I have a welder in mind that I want to try first but with the layers of dulux masking everything it could be the bodywork equivilent of the emperor's new clothes ( one angle grinding wail and suddenly you know you have no metal and just a bare chassis)in which cases I will be down your area collecting panels.

we are based in coventry in the west midlands, a couple of hours drive from you i surpose.let me know if your interested.:p

Thanks - We will be going away in it at half term (the last week of october) so if it's okay and I have'nt sorted out something locally I will come up as part of our campervan tour for a quote and we can take it from there.:D
In the meantime I just need to get it running right

thats ok your welcome to drop in anytime for a cuppa brew, the same applies to anyone else floating by this way.;)

Welcome Barbara:),lovely to meet you[:X]

What a lovely original van - looks very reasonable with only a few of the usual rust culprits showing themselves - shouldn't take her long to come up really well. Good luck on the welding hunt:)

Bessie - four star commerdation

Found a welder who does VW Campers and will take on the Commer project once I get all the replacement panels - Woolfy list to follow
