Back of the garage

I'll have to manoeuvre the van right over to one side then the other and do the job in phases.

Quick update but nothing spectacular:I
The 15" wheel I got from Admin have all been stripped with Nitromors, cleaned, wire brushed and aquasteeled - what a horrible job[xx(] and are awaiting a prime and top coat.
I've also been playing with the heater and associated plumbing. If you remember I've piped in a by-pass circuit from the stat housing to the lekky pump suction as the original by-pass set up just wouldn't work with my new system. The hoses for the heater are coming from the same place (the stat housing) and also returning to the pump suction. Now I recon the water will take the path of least resistance every time and will favour the shorter by-pass rout so I'll end up with a cold heater - the answer to put a valve in the by-pass hose and force the flow through the heater when required. I just happen to have a valve off of a Spacevan and this is now bolted in ready to take the new plumbing - it will be operated from a choke cable fitted to the blanking plug on the passenger side (choke for left hand drive) It'll give the wife control of the cab temperature in the winter:I. The advantage should be that the heater will warm up quickly as all the flow will be diverted through it until the thermostat opens - nice and toasty[8D]
Spent the rest of the afternoon filling and sanding to tidy up around welds on the front valence and door steps - preparation for the respray (scary:I)

Yep did that a while ago - just needs finishing off. Harvey has got a bit of a frown where the gutter didn't quite line up properly but that's just the way he is:I

try putting a peice of flat wood underneath the peak with another straight peice going downwards onto a trolly jack and then try to pump up the jack slowly it may push the guttering back up into place.;)

John,
Your by-pass set up is similar to my Imp. I fitted a simple plumbing shut-off valve (like the ones you fit to pipes supplying the kitchen sink) to the by-pass hose and set it to about 90% closed. This means the heater always has access to hot water. Warm up time is not affected to any real degree either.

If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Getting closer by the day John...exciting stuff, like everyone else, just can't wait to see harvey out of that garage and on the road[8D]

Collecting some more bits and pieces to finish the heater circuit off then I think I'll go for an engine start and tune-up and also see how the new cooling system performs:p

I will be exmamaning harvey closely to rob your ideas LOL, the heater is something I'm avoiding at the mo, it's sealed up if you remember and it gets very steamed up in the rain...

you'll have to make another video when you start it again so we can all hear too:D

Make sure Barbs is on hand with the video :p don't want to miss this :p [8D] I am getting over excited now, time to call practical classics ?

Apart from eating chocolate and generally making merry I have managed a few hours on Harvey over the weekend. The heater is all plumbed in now and the system is water tight with the lekky pump doing it's stuff(haven't tried it hot yet:I). I chopped the lower cill of, to repair the bottom of the fluted panel, but it was too far gone to repair and replace - fortunately I had made one out of ally sheet not long after I bought Harvey (a long, long time ago) and it had been sitting in a corner of the garage ever since. It's now attached with a couple of dozen pop-rivets and although isn't exactly the same pattern doesn't look too bad. I spread a smear of filler here and there to cover up some surface rust that I'd Aquasteeled so next week the body prep starts in earnest for the respray:)
Scary - it's almost done:I
