Back of the garage

Tarmac - it was developed for the namby-pamby modern wimps of cars, but we will have to make do. It's OK I've put sago in your dampers to cope.

I'm sure that you will make a great daddy Panky and you will give Harvey the confidence he will need :D[8D]

fantastic work panky it looks like you have never touched the dam thing and is all original. i love it mate. and i cant wait to see this van in the flesh and go for a ride in it.:p;)

Not much to look at but the fridge is in complete with flue kit. I couldn't find the petrol cap I was going to modify for the flue outlet so I used what came with the kit. Unfortunately it is the modern plastic version but you know me it had to be changed:I It wouldn't sit right on the curve of the side panel so I fitted it lengthwise and it looks much neater. Bit of a job measuring up before cutting the hole in the side - but you only get one chance and it was spot on[^] The vent in the floor was a bit of a bodge before with about three tubes full of sealant to fill in the gaps around the vent tube where it goes through the floor[xx(] so I made a couple of rings out of sheet steel and sandwiched the splayed end of the tube between them - finished off with a mesh to keep the rodents out:I
We had our dinner in Harvey tonight - proper Commerfood, whopping big burger with blue stilton and home made chutney all washed down with a glass or two of cab-sav:p Only just come back in:)

Were your ears burning earlier??

for some reason mini's came into a conversation cazz & I were having, shortly afterwards we decided to go to frankie & Bennies for dinner and we asked Oliver to put his coat on...

He must of been half listening to our conversation because he got it firmly in his head that we are going to see Panky!!!!

''Me see Panky and Panky's mini'' he said (shouted)

he was quite upset bless him...

Hello Mr Fordy - happy to oblige:)
The fridge vent in place - looks orrible but I'll paint it he same colour as the van when the time comes.

The varnish on battery tray covers, and little hinged bit in the middle, (I think it was sold as an extra wide bed:I) was particularly grotty so a bit of sanding and.....

The fill in pieces either end have suffered from damp an the ply has delaminated so these will have to be re-made, once it's all done a splosh of Danish oil will bring it up a treat.

A couple of shots with all the cupboards now in, I'll need a bit of edging:I

And in face forward seat mode

We took the covers off to have a look what lay beneath[xx(] Unfortunately the original covers are just about knackered so the brown stretchy ones will have to go back on for now. You should have seen the colour of the water when they went in the washer[:0]

It's been quite busy in the BOTG even though I haven't posted, it's just that results on the interior seem to take forever - welding is easy in comparison:I
Water ingress takes its toll[xx(]
The end bits of the woodwork behind the seats

What was left of the little cupboard in the rear nearside corner

I salvaged some of the veneer off the knackered bulkhead and glued it to some new ply

And after some Danish oil treatment

DCP_9190.jpg

The hinged covers that form the 'extra wide bed' got the same treatment and the new bulkhead got a few coats of coloured varnish in an attempt to match it in.

And the little wedgey bit to cover the gearbox bulge

Made a start on the bench seat back

Looks a bit better in the flesh - quite pleased with the results but it took ages - a combination of mixing varnished to get the right colour and the cold weather, the varnish took a long time to dry :I
I'm not going for the as new look but want to maintain an aged look - keeping a bit of patina so to speak - and the Danish oil really fits the bill, recommended[^]
The only problem is now I've started the lot will need to be done:I

working the seasonal isle sorts that problem out :(
honestly if you new how heavy the boxes of xmas cakes & pudding weighs you wouldn't have much of an appertite, as for the tins of choc's the come in by the pallet load, warehouse is full of 'em :p
